Digital TV
Digital TV can suffer from digital artifacts on the screen and blockyness if the broadcaster trys to use too low a bit rate (by trying to squeeze too many channels on the same multiplex).
To try and show the effects of Digital compression on TV pictures I have taken some jpg images and lowered the quality to simulate Digital TV.

Digital Artifacts can clearly be seen around straight lines such as logos on Digital TV.

Digital compression often doesn't like random effects such as smoke, water, dim lighting etc when the picture can clearly be seen to be made up of squares of colour.

The grass often lacks detail and can look blocky at times.
