1. Can I receive DTT in my area without changing my Aerial ?

It depends, you might be lucky and the range of frequencies used by Digital TV in your area might be close to the range of frequencies used by analogue, or you might be unlucky and you have to change the Aerial or you may be really unlucky and your local transmitter is a relay not broadcasting digital tv, or is not transmitting it in your direction.

Look your transmitter up by your postcode here

http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/coverage.html

Click on more details and it will tell you what you local transmitter is, then have a look here at the details

http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/tv_transmitters/tv_digit.shtml

(old link no longer works http://www.itc.org.uk/uk_television_sector/reception_advice/index.asp)

or if you prefer use the link below to Click on the map to find near transmitters

http://www.wolfbane.com/articles/ukdmap.htm

Can check line of site here

http://www.megalithia.com/elect/terrain.html

and you can find out your National Grid Reference for your location using

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/

There are different types of aerials (Group A,B,C/D, E etc) to pick up different bands of frequencies, your current one might or might not be suitable for the range of frequencies used by digital

Easiest way to be sure is to buy a wideband aerial (Group W), but being a compromise it probably won't perform as well as an aerial for a specific band
